One of the most unique things about TSI Global Consulting is our location.  Located in South Texas in the city of San Antonio, TSI has used our strategic positioning to develop business in the traditionally-neglected Latin American market.  Throughout our years of research and experience, one country in this region stood out: our southern neighbor, Mexico.  We’ve noticed lots of opportunities for growth within this business-friendly country, and with careful preparation, U.S. companies can achieve great success.  If you’re at all interested, here’s a brief overview to get you started.

Mexico is currently the 14th largest economy in the world, with a GDP of $1.21 trillion that’s rapidly growing.  In order to achieve this high number, Mexico has focused on becoming an export-based economy through the development of free trade agreements.  For those of us in the United States, you are in luck: one of the most important FTAs that Mexico has signed is NAFTA, which allows for free trade between the U.S., Canada and Mexico.  Some major industries that Mexico has seen growth in include electronics, mining, chemicals, and textiles. Many of our American clients have established profitable, long-lasting relationships with Mexican partners that we connected them with.

Of course, we all know the dark side to working in Mexico (it’s even been mentioned in previous TSI blogs): the crime.  It’s true; Mexico can be a very dangerous place, if you’ve never worked there before.  The cartels do exert huge amounts of power, and violence against foreigners in common.  However, much of this risk can be mitigated by choosing your location carefully.  Some safer locations include Monterrey, perhaps Mexico’s most important business city that maintains a heavy army presence to deter crime, and Mexico City, the nation’s capital which recently underwent a huge crackdown to make it more appealing to tourists.  On numerous occasions, TSI has worked with companies in these areas, and we can help you establish connections without safety risks to yourself or your company.

The potential for business growth in Mexico is astronomical, as Mexico’s recent growth has shown no signs of slowing down.  While one should take risks into account, it’s also important to see the opportunities present here.  Give TSI Global Consulting a call at 210-757-0618 for a consultation about how you can make a connection with Mexico today.
