On April 19th the Bureau of Industry and Security published an interim final rule in the Federal Register (effective immediately) that eliminates National Security, Missile Technology controls on exports, re-exports and transfers of items subject to the EAR to the United Kingdom and Australia. This new rule provides an opportunity to export Series 600 items to these countries as No License Required (NLR) providing the UK and Australia with same treatment that has been accorded to Canada for many years. In addition, items on the Commerce Control List subject to Missile Technology (MT) controls no longer require a license for export, re-export, and transfer (in-country) to/within the UK and Australia. The new policy also removes some restrictions found in EAR 744.9 the previously required licensing for export of some high-speed cameras when exported to the UK and Australia.
