On Wednesday April 23rd, the U.S. Department of Commerce opened up a Section 232 investigation to determine if imports of medium and heavy-duty trucks and their related parts threaten U.S. national security and whether special tariffs are warranted to protect the domestic industry.  Those in the trade community are invited to submit written comments, data, analyses, or other information pertinent to the investigation to the Department of Commerce’s (Department) Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security.

All written comments on this request must be filed by May 16, 2025, through the Federal eRulemaking Portal at https://www.regulations.gov. Please feel free to contact Jonathan Fink at TSI Global Consulting, LLC for assistance and guidance on drafting commentary to this ongoing investigation. Other ongoing 232 investigations open for comment include copper, timber and lumber, semiconductors and pharmaceuticals.
