The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) published in today’s Federal Register a notice for industry comments on $16 billion dollars of proposed section 301 tariffs to be imposed on Chinese products. The list of products slated to be subject to the tariffs (284 tariff lines baring exemptions) are noted in Annex C of the attached Federal Register announcement. An implementation date will be announced in the near future.
Annex B of the attached notice denotes $34 billion dollars of Chinese goods that will be subject to 25% import tariffs effective July 6, 2018. These items have already been subject to public comment. If your company imports or purchases imports of items listed in Annex C of the attached, TSI Global Consulting can prepare and present on your behalf oral and/or written comments on your behalf and request an exemption of such items from the list. Formal requests to appear for oral testimony on July 23rd at the International Trade Commission in Washington must be filed with the Federal government by June 29th. Submissions of written testimony only (i.e. no in-person oral appearance before the US International Trade Commission) must be filed by July 23rd.
I encourage you to review Annex C and contact the office by phone [210-757-0618] or e-mail me at jonathan.fink@tsiglobalconsulting.com to discuss your options if your company imports or purchases any Made in China items noted in Annex C of the attached Federal Register announcement.
